Muscle & Joint Physiotherapy

This involves a variety of muscle, joint and bone related injuries. It can sometimes include disc and nerve involvement.

  • Sprains, Strains and fractures
  • Work related injuries (WCB)
  • MVA related injuries (MPIC)
  • Sports sustained and physical activity related injuries
  • Chronic Pain (low back, neck, shoulder etc).
  • Pre & Post Surgical (knee and hip replacement, spinal surgeries, rotator cuff and ACL repairs)
Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) – jaw pain

Treatment may include the following:

  • Manual therapy – joint/bone mobilizations (movements) or manipulations
  • Stretching – passive and active movement of joints
  • Muscular Release – trigger point release, cupping
  • Home exercise prescription – stretching, strengthening and
  • Acupuncture

*Modalities (Heat, IFC, TENS, Ultrasound and muscle stimulation) are used on an AS NEEDED basis as per client’s request and literature. Our therapists have a strong belief that our hands, an active home exercise program and education to our clients about their posture and movement, provides the most successful treatment.

…”exercise in combination with education is likely to reduce the risk of low back pain (LBP) and that exercise alone may reduce the risk of an episode of LBP and sick leave due to LBP, at least for the short-term. The available evidence suggests that education alone, back belts, shoe insoles, and ergonomics do not prevent LBP” (Stephens 2016).
